Meet Gaëlle Six, the exclusive distributor of scientific skincare brand Zeitschild within Belgium and The Netherlands. This German brand offers revolutionary and genderless skincare for a radiant and healthy skin. Zeitschild translates to ‘time shield’, which is not surprising when you know that the brand specializes in the area of barrier technologies. Based on an Ortholamellar Technology, they eliminate all the ingredients that the skin doesn't need such as emulsifiers, silicones, fragrances and preservatives. Zeitschild developed the first emulsifier-free creams, setting new standards in dermatological cosmetics.

Hi Gaëlle! Could you introduce yourself and tell us a little more about your background and education?

I am Gaëlle Six, 32 years and born and raised in Knokke-Heist, Belgium. After graduating from high school at the St-Bavo Humaniora in Ghent, I studied Communication Sciences at Ghent University. Afterwards, I pursued an additional master’s degree in General Management at the Vlerick Business School.

How did you come up with the idea to start a business revolving around skincare? Have you always been interested in this industry?

I landed in the skincare field rather by chance through my previous job. I quickly got the hang of it and it piqued my interest. Just like with food, I think it is very important that people are aware of what they put on their skin. Not only is it our largest organ, it is also one of the first things that we notice about one another. There are so many options available on the market and there’s a lot of publicity on the subject of skincare, but what interests me is the composition of products and how they can help certain skin types.

You are responsible for the distribution of Zeitschild in Belgium and the Netherlands. What drew you to this German skicare brand specifically?

I chose Zeitschild because it is the only brand that starts from a holistic approach and exclusively relies on ingredients that belong to the skin. The developer, Martin Albrecht, has a tremendous amount of knowledge about the skin and its issues and has already made a big impact in the cosmetic world. Everything fits with Zeitschild. Moreover, by including a dermatological and an aesthetic line, Zeitschild has the potential to cover various markets. This only adds to the excitement and challenges!

Could you tell us a bit more about the technology behind the products?

I could go into great detail about this but the most important aspect is the holistic approach and the banning of unnecessary ingredients such as emulsifiers. Zeitschild's products are identical to a healthy skin structure and contain active ingredients that are used in the most efficient way, meaning at their maximum efficiency concentration.

How do you see the future for Zeitschild in Belgium and the Netherlands?

I hope that we’ll become a loyal partner of numerous doctors and specialists in both markets. That they refer to the brand as being reliable, highly qualitative and, above all, effective for those struggling with skin conditions. On the other hand, it’s our mission to raise awareness about what individuals are putting on their skin. We want people to think not only about marketing and branding, but about the ingredients of the products they use.

Female entrepreneurs are still in the minority today. What advice would you give to women who also want to venture into entrepreneurship?

Don't give up and just keep going 😉. But most importantly, you have to believe in yourself 100% and stand behind the product or service you sell. You can’t expect to convince a crowd if you yourself are not convinced. Make sure you are surrounded by people you can trust and who possess as much passion as you do. Don’t expect to get there alone.

Some days the situation seems hopeless and I find myself questioning my decision to embark on this journey, but then something unexpected happens that lifts my mood and gives me the energy I need to move mountains. It is not obvious but at times the satisfaction is unspeakable.
