NEW MEMBER — MEET LINDE
The MARNIX and ALLY team keeps on growing. That’s right, we’re adding yet another go-getter to the bunch! We’d like to introduce Linde who considers social media a form of writing love letters. Though being a bit nostalgia-minded, she’s always up to date about the newest things in social media land. Let’s get to know her!
Hi Linde, could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you do at MARNIX and ALLY?
Hey there! My name is Linde and I am 27 years old. I called Ghent my home for several years, but last summer I moved to Antwerp to live together with my boyfriend and our sweet cat. At MARNIX and ALLY, I’m responsible for maintaining the social media accounts, both of clients and our agency. For the greater part my tasks come down to writing captions, blog posts and newsletters, as well as creating visuals.
Can you tell us about your background and education? How did these prepare you for your job at MARNIX and ALLY?
As a student, I strongly envisioned something that would make me go to work passionately each day. I had no clue, however, what exactly that was supposed to be. I first studied Language and Literature (English-Swedish, I don’t speak the latter very well though) and got a second degree in Digital Design. After graduating, I began as a communications assistant at KU Leuven where I oversaw social media accounts. Because I longed for more creativity after a while, I partly started freelancing at Buro Bonito, a young content creation company. I think it’s quite interesting I turned out to be a social media manager, because I’m a bit of an old soul. But on the other hand, it totally makes sense and reflects my love for words and images.
What is it about our agency that drew you in?
Let’s say, it feels like the last pieces of the puzzle that I’ve been laying ever since my adolescence finally came into place. First and foremost, I fell head over heels with the aesthetic vibe M & A radiates. I’ve always been drawn to design, fashion and beauty in general. But at the same time I feel a huge responsibility to try to make the world a better place. I struggled rhyming these two, especially regarding a career. At MARNIX and ALLY I work for beautiful brands that care about the planet’s future as well. So now I wake up every day with a drive and I’m beyond grateful for that.
Could you describe yourself in five words?
Expressive (my face is a book), (somewhat) chaotic, (hopeless) romantic, (hopeful) idealist, (analog) photography-enthusiast. These count as five, right?
What do you hope this year will have in store for you?
I’ve been delving into marketing theoretics for a while now and would love to implement the things I’ve learned and am learning every day (yep, the social media landscape changes at lightning speed) to help grow brands. The art is to build an operational system backed up with marketing strategy. As a result everything the brand shares with its audience is completely in line with the brand’s identity. And that’s not a one-person-job, so I look forward to teaming up with my colleagues to achieve this time and again.
Do you have any hidden talents you’d like to share with us?
I’m good at grasping, what I call, atmospheres. Being sensitive allows me to quickly understand a setting and easily adjust to it or create one myself. On social media different elements shape an account’s atmosphere: the visuals, the tone of voice and even the choice of emoji’s. I’d say I shine at shifting between them and enjoy doing so!
