NEW MEMBER — MEET JENTE

Your favourite PR and creative agency is booming, as shows our portfolio growth. Naturally our team demographics are on the rise as well. Once more we like to announce the arrival of a new team member. Say hi to Jente whose skill set is as versatile as the colour palette of her wardrobe. Find out more about this lovely lady in the interview below.

Hi Jente, could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you do at MARNIX and ALLY?

My name is Jente, I’m 24 years old, born and raised in a little countryside town. It’s pretty close to the Netherlands - some might even call me Dutch, but no, I’m 100% Belgian. My job at Marnix and Ally can best be described as Junior PR account and Showroom manager. So actually I’m combining 2 responsibilities, which makes the job even more interesting as there is a people side to it and a more creative side. My week includes short catch-ups with stylists and if I’m not in the showroom, you can find me at my desk working on several fashion clients together with my colleagues.

Can you tell us about your background and education? How did these prepare you for your job at MARNIX and ALLY?

I have 3 degrees which also means I graduated 3 times including the necessary festivities, lucky me. I own a Bachelor in Communications Management, a Banaba in International Business Management and a Master in International Fashion business. This may sound fancy, but in short, I’ve known for quite a while my passion lies in fashion & PR and it just took me quite a while to realize I could actually work in the industry.
In these 5 years, I studied a lot but I also gained experience abroad. I’ve lived in London for several months (twice even, again lucky me). Being one of the fashion capitals I felt right at home. I spent my time studying at East London University combined with internships at a fashion PR agency, an edgy brand and a magazine. I can fairly say that these experiences prepared me for the real deal at MARNIX and ALLY: from running the showroom, to compiling clippings to getting a taste of the daily duties in a PR agency.

What is it about our agency that drew you in?

The fact that Marnix and Ally is an all-round agency with a wide variety of clients fascinated me from the very moment I landed on the website. The esthetically pleasing style and Instagram page gave me a positive vibe and eventually made me reach out. I didn’t even know there was such a wonderful team waiting for me on the other side.

Could you describe yourself in five words?

Challenger, eternal doubter, colourful, supportive and a good listener.

What do you hope this year will have in store for you, both personally and professionally?

First things first, I would like to move out of my parent’s house before the end of the year. Don’t get me wrong, I truly love them, but I’m ready to move out and spread my wings in a new city and be closer to work in Antwerp. I’m definitely excited for that to happen and I’ll take it from there. Within Marnix and Ally I’m hoping to learn everyday, even just the little tools - how to scan a document using Notes on your iPhone for example. Of course I hope to create some meaningful connections with significant people in the field, networking is key in PR.

Do you have any hidden talents you’d like to share with us?

I wouldn’t call it a talent per se but I did make my friends and family add a dash of colour to their wardrobes. My own closet is a little colour bomb and wearing vivid tinted attires seems to be infectious.
