Meet the four new residents:the next wave of Belgian design at M+A STUDIO — Q3

With Wave 3 of Design in Residency, M+A STUDIO welcomes a new line-up of designers shaping the current Belgian design landscape. The residency transforms our studio into a platform for visibility, dialogue and connection, bringing together emerging and independent voices who each contribute a distinct perspective. From collectible objects to material research and architectural form, Wave 3 reflects the diversity and forward momentum of Belgian design. Objects by Max Reynders, Studio Sterck, Charlotte Jonckheer and Amaury Denis. Different in approach, yet united in intention each designer questions what an object can be and what it can mean. scrol to read the full story
Cross Candelabra & Hedgehog Belgian designer and creative director Max Reynders based in Antwerp, first became known for his work in graphic, pattern and jewelry design. With Objects (launched in 2024), he shifts his focus toward transforming uncommon objects into sculptural pieces crafted exclusively from natural materials. At the core of Max’s philosophy lies deconstruction, not as destruction, but as a way of rethinking form, structure and meaning. He sees objects not as fixed entities, but as dynamic compositions that can be broken down, rearranged and reimagined.
Unlearn Beauty & The Shoplifter Brussels-based Studio Sterck challenges perception through objects that question beauty, function and expectation. Unlearn Beauty reimagines our relationship with the mirror, often our harshest critic. Instead of confirming insecurities, the piece invites discovery. A movable iron curtain partially conceals the mirror, allowing you to choose which angle is revealed: left, center or right. Beauty becomes an exploration rather than a verdict. Handmade in Brussels in a limited edition of 500, each piece comes with a signed certificate of authenticity by Joe Sterck. With The Shoplifter, Studio Sterck gives the anonymous retail hero, the shopping crate, a final, elevated place in the home. Its function is intentionally undefined. A nightstand? A stool? A coffee table? A footrest? The decision belongs to the user. Handmade in Brussels in a limited edition of 100, The Shoplifter was exhibited at Milan Design Week 2025 and featured in Sabato 100 Design 2025. Studio Sterck doesn’t dictate meaning. It creates space for it.
Blushing Blue low table & CPC Table Lamp The practice of Charlotte Jonckheer revolves around objects for the interior, design concepts and material research, with a strong focus on materiality, particularly paper. By exploring the lifecycle of paper, Charlotte investigates its potential as both a physical substance and a metaphor. In 2018, she developed her own material: Chaud Paper Composite, made from paper waste sourced from a local print shop combined with stone dust. This composite became the foundation for a series of works created through an intuitive, iterative research process.
Stainless Steel Structure This 2023 work forms the foundation of Amaury’s practice. It marks the transformation from technical experiment to a distinct architectural language, born from an initial discovery of metalworking and the raw process of welding. The object is an interplay between mass and repetition. Custom-cut stainless steel sheets are welded into geometric blocks, supported by an exposed grid of rods. The structure serves as both the visual backbone and functional support. By leaving every weld point and connection visible, the work embodies an uncompromising material honesty: the raw nature of the steel and the traces of the construction process are not masked, but define the very essence of the object. Using this project as a starting point, Amaury explores the power of simple form and timelessness, independent of fleeting trends. In this approach, traditional design principles are reversed: the focus lies entirely on proportion and composition. Function is not the starting point for Amaury, but the logical result of an aesthetic choice.
We’re beyond excited to welcome and represent these four incredible talents at M+A STUDIO.Inquiries: nel@marnixandally.com
